Emerald Bay State Park

Emerald Bay

Located 22 miles south of Tahoe City, this natural landmark is a sought after scenic spot that offers incredible views of the Sierra Nevada peaks as well as a birds eye view of the shimmering lake. Visitors here can hike down to two campground areas which are only accessible by foot or boat. Those with an eye for architecture will appreciate Vikingsholm Castle located a steep one mile hike down from Vikingsholm Parking Lot or by way of the Rubicon Trail. Emerald Bay State Park is a sweet recreational spot where you can enjoy camping, swimming, kayaking, boating and sightseeing.

Hiking The Tahoe Rim Trail

There is so much hiking in Lake Tahoe that it will make your feet swell. Wear comfortable shoes but go and enjoy the miles of forested terrain from easy walks to intermediate up hill climbs to miles and miles of rocky steep slopes that lead to the most amazing views. The Tahoe Rim Trail is a 165-mile long hiking trail that loops within the Sierra Nevada and Carson ranges of California and Nevada and features a diverse range of hiking trails to accommodate all ages and fitness levels. The prize views at the end of the hike make the trek up worth it!

The ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada mountains can’t be beat! But sometimes you just want to have fun the way you did when you were a kid and let the snow take you where it wants you to go. Tubing is becoming widely popular and most of the Lake Tahoe resorts feature awesome tubing parks.

Considered the most beautiful flat water panel in the country, the waters of Lake Tahoe are becoming increasingly popular for Paddleboarders. One of the fastest growing recreational sports, this low key sport is becoming a favorite for all ages and is perfect for all fitness levels. Why? Because anyone can learn to do it. It’s as easy as standing on a single surf board and gliding around with the use of a paddle. It’s a great way to enjoy the views around the Lake while quieting your mind and exercising your muscles.
