Fernie Area

Area

Welcome to the Canadian Rockies! As you plan your visit there are things you'll want to know in advance so you can get the most enjoyment out of your visit.

Located in south-east British Columbia, and a 3-hour drive from Calgary, Alberta, Fernie has been welcoming ski and board fanatics to its glorious mountains since 1963.

Fernie offers the very best of what a "small town - big mountain" destinations represents. The feeling in Fernie is casual, cool, authentic and chill-axing, devoid of that corporate resort influence that mountain towns often suffer from. If you are a true mountain enthusiast, looking for outdoor adventure with some thrills and chills thrown in, Fernie is just the place for you.

And if outdoor adventure is not really your thing, the town is funky and charming and the scenery is simply breathtaking. Walk through Fernie, breath in the mountain air, enjoy the very "real" community with its local shops, great restaurants or aquatics center, and learn about its storied history through the museum, library, arts station and the late 1800's architecture. There is something for everyone!

The feeling in Fernie is all mountain, all nature, all outdoors, and 100% authentic.

If these are some of your passions, Fernie is guaranteed to light your fire!
