Breckenridge Area

Breckenridge, Colorado.  Fewer towns in Colorado hold up to the quaint western feel that is known as Breckenridge (or Breck to the locals).  Breckenridge is storied in history dating all the way back to the Ute Indians. Although during that time, there were a few trappers, it wasn’t until the Gold Rush that Breckenridge began to develop. Breckenridge offers great snipits into the American West and is a fun way to learn about history.  Breck also is historic in the fact that it was the first major ski resort to allow snowboarders.  With its most recent expansion of Peak 6, Breckenridge offers a wide variety of terrain for everyone.  And Breck is not just a rad place to ride in the Winter, it also offers some of the best festivals of the summer. Sitting at 9600 feet, you will truly understand the meaning of Rocky Mountain High! So, now you are convinced to come for a visit... how do you find a place to stay?  A few thoughts on this subject.

Budget

Budget

It is very important that you are realistic with your budget and expectations of what your budget will offer.  There are lodging options for most budgets, however I will repeat- you must be realistic with what your budget can afford.  Don’t expect to get a slopeside room for 8 people over Christmas week for $300 per night.  It just won’t happen.  In fact, not much is available for that price over Christmas week so adjust according to your budget.

Location

Location

Now that you have determined your budget and expectations accordingly, seek out a location that may suit you the best.  There are a lot of different lodging options available in Breckenridge.  Do you want to be near town? Do you want to be slopeside?  On the gondola?  Lots of options are available, you just need to decide which way you want to go.
