Crested Butte Area

Crested Butte is an iconic Colorado mountain town.  With its Downtown being located approximately 3 miles from the Resort, Downtown offers its own unique flare.  With colorful characters and even more colorful views of Mt. Crested Butte, the vistas in and around town are spectacular.  There is a free shuttle service to and from Mt. Crested Butte making travel between the two towns easy.  And there is no reason to drive.  Mt. Crested Butte is home to the famed 401- a gnarly and super technical mountain bike ride.  Winter or Summer, Crested Butte has something for everyone.  One of the first decisions visitors to the Crested Butte area need to make - is to choose between the area up near the ski area, or in town.  Our community is actually comprised of two separate municipalities - the historic town of Crested Butte, and the town that was formed around the base of the ski area  - the town of Mount Crested Butte!

So, now you are convinced to come for a visit... how do you find a place to stay?  A few thoughts on this subject.

Budget

Crested Butte Lodging

It is very important that you are realistic with your budget and expectations of what your budget will offer.  There are lodging options for most budgets, however I will repeat- you must be realistic with what your budget can afford.  Don’t expect to get a slopeside room for 8 people over Christmas week for $300 per night.  It just won’t happen.  In fact, not much is available for that price over Christmas week so adjust according to your budget.

Location

Now that you have determined your budget and expectations accordingly, seek out a location that may suit you the best.  There are a lot of different lodging options available in Crested Butte.  Do you want to be near town? Do you want to be in the town of Mt. Crested Butte?  Lots of options are available, you just need to decide which way you want to go.
