Telluride Area

Telluride is steeped in Colorado mining history.  With many of its buildings and homes preserving their Victorian style, your walk through the Town of Telluride will not disappoint.  Mountain Village is the resort part of Telluride and connects to the Town of Telluride by a free Gondola.  In an effort to keep things green as they were expanding the ski resort, the Gondola was developed, and never taken away.  It now serves as the primary mode of transportation to and from the ski mountain.  A great thing about Telluride is its size.  It is small and quaint and everything is within walking distance.  In fact, many people don’t even rent cars.  They use the shuttles to and from the airport to get here and public transportation while they are here.  Your choice!  No matter which way you go, one thing is for sure- Telluride is a paradise like no other place you have ever been.

So, now you are convinced to come for a visit... how do you find a place to stay?  A few thoughts on this subject.

Budget

Budget

It is very important that you are realistic with your budget and expectations of what your budget will offer.  There are lodging options for most budgets, however I will repeat- you must be realistic with what your budget can afford.  Don’t expect to get a slopeside room for 8 people over Christmas week for $300 per night.  It just won’t happen.  In fact, not much is available for that price over Christmas week so adjust according to your budget.

Location

Location

Now that you have determined your budget and expectations accordingly, seek out a location that may suit you the best.  There are a lot of different lodging options available in Telluride.  Do you want to be near town with its grand Victorian history? Do you want to be in Mountain Village where most of the lodging is on the newer side?  Lots of options are available, you just need to decide which way you want to go.
