Land

The drive into BIg Sky is more demanding than most but is accessible from a few major highways: U.S. Highways 2 & 93. U.S. Highway 2 is best used coming from the west and east while U.S. Highway 93 is best used when coming from the South. However, the best way to travel to Whitefish is by flying directly to the closest airport and renting a car or getting a shuttle ride to your final destination.

The best way to travel around the town of Whitefish is by either walking or biking to get a sense of the downtown area. However, a car is required to go to certain areas around downtown such as the ski resort and Glacier National Park. There is also a local taxi service to help you get around town if you need it. There are also airport shuttles to the town if needed. During the winter, there is a free ski bus that locals and visitors can use to get to the mountain.
