Santa Fe is a town that is culturally centered around artwork and history. Many of the shops that sell items display a proud heritage of the people making and selling it. There are various museums that are open to the public to learn about the culture and history of artwork in Santa Fe. We have listed a couple of museums that we believe to be the best in town. Also, there are always activities such as concerts, community gatherings, and art walks happening around the town. Be sure to check it out!

Museum of International Folk Art

Museum of International Folk Art located in the heart of Sante Fe offers beautiful pieces of artwork from artists all around the world. The museum has many different exhibits that are both large and small but are always a must see. There are both traditional arts as well as more modern and abstract pieces. Keep in mind that photography is only allowed without flash, tripod, and intent for commercial use. They encourage you to share your pictures online on their Flickr and Facebook pages. During the winter and summer seasons, the number of days that the museum are open are different. Be sure to check if the museum is open before you go!

St. Francis Cathedral

St. Francis Cathedral is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the western United States. With its intricate detail and historic atmosphere, it is a must visit no matter what religion you follow. As you may have guessed, the St. Francis Cathedral is centered around Catholicism and has a large history dating back to 1610 when it was first created as a Catholic Parish. In 1853, the Parish became a Cathedral and in 2005 it became a Basilica, which is where the church has been given honors from the pope. Be sure to check it out!

Santa Fe Plaza

Santa Fe Activity

Santa Fe Plaza has been the heart of downtown Santa Fe for nearly 400 years and offers various different shops as it hosts both Indian and Spanish Markets while also offering many everts such as art walks, concerts, and community gatherings. Surrounding the main plaza are a variety of restaurants and more shops. There is always something to do at the Plaza since it is right in the heart of town. Be sure to stop by during your next vacation!

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is one of the most stunning and fun places to visit in Santa Fe. With the museum mainly focused on her artwork, there is a huge selection of different mediums people can look at and admire. The museum's collection displays over 3000 different pieces of art including 1,149 pieces of art that Georgia O'Keeffe created herself from 1901 to 1984. If you only plan on doing a few activities during your stay in Santa Fe, we highly recommend that the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is on your list.
