Jackson Hole Area

Area

The Jackson Hole area is a destination that should be on anyone's bucket list. Once you visit, you're almost certain to return! Winter guests are treated to more snow, and more consistent snow, than most other western United States ski resorts. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is consistently ranked in the top 10 ski resorts in North America, including recent # 1 rankings by both Ski Magazine readers and Forbes. Grand Targhee Resort, on the other side of Teton Pass, is a great place for a change of pace. With over 500 inches of snow a year, wide open sparsely treed terrain, and amazing views of Grand Teton, any winter guest needs to get onto this mountain as well as Jackson Hole! Summer guests will be stunned by the area. Plan your trip for as long as possible - you'll want as much time as possible to explore Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of acres of national forest and wilderness areas that surround Jackson itself.

Town of Jackson Wyoming

Jackson is the hub of activity and the seat of Teton County, This is where you'll find the vast majority of shopping, dining, and nightlife, as well as the "small" ski hill of Snow King Resort. Options vary significantly, with eateries catering to the finest taste buds and fat wallets to amazing options that are more friendly to the budget. You will have no problem finding places to eat in Jackson. Shopping is equally varied, and plentiful enough to take up an entire day, including options for well known high end fashion, locally owned boutiques, art galleries, gear outfitters, memorabilia shops, and more.

Teton Village

Lodging

Teton Village is the area that surrounds the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Less than 1 mile from one of the entrances into Grand Teton National Park, this area is a popular choice for both winter and summer guests. This area is relatively small, and anything in Teton Village will be convenient for ski slope access. Being right at the base of the main ski resort, guests staying in Teton Village will enjoy being able to walk to and from the winter and summer mountain activities as well as a number of restaurants, shops, bars, even live music.

The Aspens and Teton Pines

The Aspens and Teton Pines is a beautiful area with lots of open space and creeks. Located right in between downtown Jackson and Teton Village, it offers convenient bus service or a short drive to either area. This development surrounds the beautiful Teton Pines Country Club with a mix of private homes, town homes, and condos. At the entrance, you have a small grocery store, an athletic club with summer pool and year round hot tubs, a bank, a coffee shop and a couple of dining options. This area is more economical but offers great lodging options with good convenience.

Teton County Idaho

Just over the pass from Jackson Hole proper, you'll find some lodging options that are closer to Grand Targhee and providing an alternative route for entering Yellowstone National Park from the west side. The small towns of Victor and Driggs offer some good dining options and a few breweries too. In summer, going over Teton Pass and into Jackson is quite easy and a pretty drive. It provides the most direct access, but there are other routes. Due to steep grades and curves, vehicles over 60,000 pounds are prohibited, and all trailers are prohibited from November 15th until April 1st each winter. With much more affordable rates and less zoning restrictions on vacation rentals, this area is host to a growing number of quality vacation rental properties.
