Detailed Information

At the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, learn about one of the most pivotal moments in US history: the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the subsequent entry of the United States into World War II.

On December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service launched a surprise military strike on the United States and the world turned upside down. This attack drew the United States into World War II, and changed the course of global history in the 20th century.

To commemorate the many lives lost during the attack, the Pearl Harbor National Memorial was constructed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickman on Oahu Island in Hawaii. The park includes nine historic sites representing various aspects of the war in the Pacific.
