Middleton Place

Middleton Place is a jaw-dropping plantation across from the Ashley River. Its expansive green field features a beautiful 65-acre garden, which has been called ā€œthe most important and most interesting garden in Americaā€. The building which now houses the House Museum was built in 1755 as guest quarters. Here, you can learn the history of the estate, the family which has lived on the plantation for many generations, and the slave trade. You will see artifacts, such as portraits and furniture, silver, china, documents, and other belongings of the family. Tours are offered daily.

Charleston Waterfront Park

Perfect place for an afternoon picnic or a relaxing evening stroll. This 12-acre park offers a great view of the harbor, floral gardens, and two large fountains. If you have young children, you might want to bring them. They would love to come and play in these fountains! If you like to go fishing, there is plenty of that too. Nearby is the Old City Market and other experiences.
