South Padre Island is a barrier island off of the coast of Texas, known for its calm waters and beautiful beaches. With tons of sea life nearby, this is a great spot for sport fishing. Take a boat tour with South Padre Island Dolphin Research & Sealife Nature Center, which also offers touch tanks to learn about wildlife. South Padre Island is also home to a sea turtle rescue and rehab.

Make sure to check out the fantastic seafood restaurants while you’re here, especially the gulf shrimp! Head to the sand dunes for some hiking or try out a new water sport like surfing or sailing in the calm and clear waters.
