The tale of the Brown Dog started back in June of 2001 as Pacific Street Pizza on the west end of town. From this location, they developed a reputation for great classic American style pizza and their signature YX cheesesteak sub. Eventually, they outgrew the Pacific Street Pizza location, and moved to Colorado Avenue changing their name to Brown Dog Pizza. The menu features the Classic American (round) available in our Rustic Medium Crust, Cracker Thin Crust, Detroit Square, Brooklyn Sicilian, Gluten Free Detroit Square and Gluten Free Roman Style as well as an array of specialty subs/wraps, burgers, chicken wings, salads, pastas dishes and various daily specials. In addition they have a Gluten Free menu with pizza, wraps, burgers and pasta. They offer a full bar with a variety of beers on tap–featuring many local Colorado brews and $2.50 PBRs. In 2010, owner, Jeff Smokevitch attended the International School of Pizza, and has since assisted legendary Pizzaioli and Master Instructor, Tony Geminani, in several more sessions at the school. Jeff, under Tony’s tutelage, learned that combining the best quality ingredients along with attention to detail makes the best pizzas. Geminani was so impressed by his pupil, he asked Jeff to be on the World Pizza Champions team in the Fall of 2010. Smokevitch has gone on to enter several other competitions, and Brown Dog’s pizza was judged as the World’s Best Pizza in the American pan division with a 1st Place finish at the International Pizza Expo 2013.
